As the Free State Grows

Eli and I took off in the afternoon to Manchester for another moving event. About 20 people showed up to help Ivy and her kids move in to a new apt. They moved up from Rhode Island.

The couch is not my friend. First we tried going up the stairs at the front door. The humidity and heat (90 degrees) had me sweating profusely and it kept getting in my eyes as we attempted to navigate this thing up the narrow and cornered stairwell. I was at the top, pulling and lifting and turning. Not something my back is too happy about. It gets worse though. At some point during our grunting and scratching heads and heavy sighing, a loud crash was heard. Everyone knew. It was her great-grandmother's antique mirror and frame :( It put a damper on spirits for a bit.

Back to the couch...
Giving up on that approach, we attempted to back out. How did we get that thing in the front door? o.O Finally, after much fussing and pushing it went back out. Now we were going to push it up to the second story railing and pull it in. I went upstairs. I should have stayed down. Pulling on that thing to get it over the railing sent my already ailing back into fits. The railing was wooden and old and felt unsure, so I took all the pressure. Glad other people were there.

Well, at this point I backed off a bit. The stinging from the sweat and my back were starting to make things difficult. I don't think I was as bad off as Pat K. He was turning purple at one point. O.o

Well, I went downstairs and let the other guys figure out how to get the couch through the kitchen door. About 5 minutes later, I saw the couch coming over the edge of the railing. WTF? They couldn't get it through, so it was coming down. Good thing a couple of us were down there;)

So... I keep wondering why no one mentioned the back door earlier, with the stairs and high ceiling leading right into the living room ???

*sigh*

Eli and I then drove to Pembroke for a Free State "wedding reception/birthday party/moving party" The bride and groom weren't invited ;) It's a HUGE house with about 5 acres of really nice open field and treeline. Some people were camping in the back yard. Lots of fun to be had. I spent most of my time taking pictures. Toward the end, some of us were inside as the host played random 80s tunes while we guessed the band names. Invader Zim marathon was fun too. Lots of couples with kids... Yes, I miss mine.

The Gray advantage

Lou. When the heavy furniture shows up, just flip your gray/white ponytail, mumble something about being old and go get a beer.
Works for me:)

Re: The Gray advantage

I keep forgetting about that. I think all the dye seeped into my brain over the years trying to hide the gray. The perpetual 17 yr old in me thinks I'm indestructible ;')
