Ron Paul weekend!

I wasn't going to do any of this.. really.

I had planned to have a quiet weekend and try to just relax and unwind. Hah!

I did manage to have a quiet Friday evening. Saturday morning was filled with conflict over whether or not I was going to the Picnic and Straw Poll event in Strafford, NH. That was a 2 hour drive.

Boy am I glad I went! Not only did Ron take the poll by a landslide (73%), none of the PAID Mitt minions were there. Poor Mitt only got...26 votes out of 260+ cast. Yes, Ron's group is completely unpaid and they donate at every chance. If a bumpersticker or button is handed to them for free, they are quick to dig into their pockets and say "Make sure this goes to the campaign"

I can't explain it. It's not the man...it's the message. And he knows it.

I drove back home to see my daughter who had just returned from a week at camp. After a while she actually admitted she had some fun.
Then she wanted to go be around libertarians/free-staters, so we headed out to Murphy's rather late. Quite a few people were there and we sat outside in the brisk air and enjoyed some good stories and laughs (civil disobedience involving milk tax, a cow on the capitol steps, and milking the cow to sell the milk tax free to passersby).

Sunday morning I woke Eli up (much to her dismay and resistance) and headed off to a Ron Paul sign wave in Nashua. 2 hours of that and Ron Paul drove by smiling, waving, and thanking us.

We then headed off to the Hillsborough County BBQ for more Ron Paul rockstardom \m/ >.< \m/

I must admit, listening to most Republican organizers is akin to listening to grade school teachers who feel superior to their constituents/students. One too many "Hello! Hello!? Please keep it down while these really important people, who are all saying the same thing over and over, speak to you!" (imagine a disdainful voice fretting over loss of control and imagined authority). They ended up moving Ron Paul to the end of the list of speakers because they knew the place would resemble a ghost town after he finished. Ron Paul and his supporters pwnd that event and they knew it.

It was more than pleasant to walk out afterward and see a plane and banner, paid for by Ron Paul supporters from their own funds, flying around the treetops at the BBQ.

Eli was really happy to meet Ron too :)
